7 Students from School of Chinese Medicine, HKU Awarded in Mainland Forum

7 Bachelor of Chinese Medicine students participated in the “2024 Belt and Road International Undergraduate Forum for Basic Innovative Experiment Design in Medical Sciences” at Sun Yat-sen University in Guangzhou in August, proudly received 1 silver and 1 bronze award. These 7 third-year Bachelor of Chinese Medicine students excelled in the Chinese and Western Medicine category, achieving the best result in the Chinese Medicine category, showcasing outstanding performances in advocating for science, seeking true knowledge, and daring to innovate.

The research topic of students Chen Yitong, Li Yunting, Lo Hiu Ching, and Zhou Yeqin, under the guidance of Assistant Professor, Professor Lin Xiang, titled " Mechanistic Study of Atractylenolide-I&II from Atractylodes on TFH Cells," awarded 2nd prize. And, the research topic of students Tse Ka Ki, Kelton Wong, and Wong Lam, under the guidance of Research Assistant Professor, Dr Zhao Jia, titled " Chinese Traditional Five-Tone Music Therapy for the Prevention and Treatment of Depression and its Symptoms: A Systematic Review," awarded 3rd prize.

The 2024 Belt and Road International Undergraduate Forum for Basic Innovative Experiment Design in Medical Sciences was organized by the National Demonstration Center for Experimental Education, Section of Basic Medicine Sciences, the Mainland China Ministry of Education, inviting over 1000 groups of university students from medical schools to participate. The forum aims to enhance students' independent and original innovative scientific research thinking and experimental skills, providing a platform for students to cultivate top talents with original innovative awareness and capabilities.
