    Abstract:

Scientific knowledge in the U.S. on Integrative Medicine and Whole Person Care has advanced considerably over the last two decades. Encouraging evidence suggests that multicomponent mind-body practice has multiple benefits for patients with a variety of chronic medical disorders, particularly those with musculoskeletal pain conditions. This seminar will focus on stimulating ideas from Eastern and Western philosophy related to the human body and mind, treatment of chronic pain, immune health, and overall well-being.

    Objectives of this presentation:

      1) Overview of integrative whole person care based on Eastern and Western Medicine theories
      2) Describe new data on mind-body approaches for chronic disease management, well-being, and immune mechanisms
      3) Discuss challenges and opportunities for implementing integrative whole person care into clinical practice
