About the Speaker:

John Yoo serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the Virginia University of Integrative Medicine (VUIM) a private, non-profit institution of higher education dedicated to producing healthcare practitioners highly skilled in Acupuncture and Integrative Medicine, trained to provide the community with affordable healthcare services while fostering its growth and practice. Since taking the role of CEO in April 2019, John has been pivotal in steering VUIM towards its mission of providing the community with accessible, affordable healthcare services and advocating for the expansion and recognition of these vital health practices. Under his leadership, VUIM has achieved significant milestones, including expanding its academic footprint from one to three campuses, each equipped with industry-leading clinical facilities. He has been instrumental in launching Doctorate programs in Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine and positioning VUIM as one of the select institutions in the United States to offer graduate programs in English, Korean, and Mandarin Chinese, reflecting the university's commitment to diversity and global engagement. John has served as a member of VUIM’s Board of Trustees since June of 2010. Prior to joining VUIM, John spearheaded Business Development and Product Management at Arca Solutions Inc., a software consultancy based in Northern Virginia. He led the firm’s transformation by redefining global sales and marketing strategies and launching a mobile-first product division catering to the $60+ billion print publishing sector. Before Arca, John held management roles at Kaplan Inc.’s K-9 subsidiary in San Francisco, where he contributed to the innovation of the company's blended learning solutions. In addition to his executive responsibilities, John serves as the Board Chair and as a member of the Executive Committee for the Accreditation Commission for Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine (ACAHM), demonstrating his deep commitment to advancing the standards and practices of acupuncture and herbal medicine education. His previous contributions on the Executive Committee for the Council of Colleges of Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine (CCAHM) further underscore his dedication to the field. John holds an MBA from Columbia Business School and a BA in Foreign Affairs from the University of Virginia.
