Integrative Medicine for Complicated Diseases: Same Disease Using Different Treatment, Different Disease Using Same Treatment

Abstract: Hong Kong’s medical system comprises of Chinese and Western Medicine independently. Integrative Medicine is a future direction. The combination of disease differentiation and syndrome differentiation is one of the greatest achievements in the clinical application of integrated Chinese and Western Medicine. What is the relationship and the science behind it? Modern complex diseases include a large class of chronic refractory diseases caused by genetic and environmental factors, Epidemiology has shown that after long-term obesity, diabetes, hyperlipidemia, hypertension and other metabolic diseases, the incidence of cancer has increased significantly. On the other hand, With the development of medicine today, medications still face many unmet medical needs. Chinese Medicine has a history of more than 2,000 years, how to contribute to unmet medical needs and new drug discovery is a new challenge. This presentation will combine the dilemma of drug development with the insight of our research group on cancer and metabolic diseases, aiming at the combination of diseases and syndrome and related diseases in prevention and treatment of Chinese Medicine, discussing the challenges and solutions.
