Abstract
Strategies in Traditional Chinese Medicine for the treatment for Helicobacter pylori Drug Resistance

Eradication of Helicobacter pylori can reduce the risk of gastric cancer. The resistance of Helicobacter pylori to antibiotics has become the most important factor in the treatment failure . Prof. Zhang’s research team proposed that Helicobacter pylori was a specific evil qi characterized with dampness-heat, therefore the main treatment approach was to clear the heat and to resolve the dampness. Representative Chinese Medicines such as Qingre Huashi Compound and Jinghua Weikang Capsule have shown the advantages of improving Helicobacter pylori eradication rate and of reducing the adverse reactions. They can also enhance the sensitivity to antibiotics treatment through various non-specific drug resistance pathways such as anti-adhesion and anti-biofilm formation. In addition, individualized evaluation and treatment combining traditional Chinese and Western medicine based on the clinical manifestation of patients could effectively improve the treatment efficacy.
