Abstract
Exploration of the Theory of TCM Prevention and Treatment of Breast Cancer

Breast cancer is the most common kind of women's cancer worldwide which poses serious threat to women's health. The etiology of breast cancer is still unclear so far, so the treatment can only be symptomatic, and there are no effective means and methods to prevent the cause of this disease.

Our team follows the TCM theory to explore one of the etiology of breast cancer liver disease. It is believed in TCM that the “liver is the innate basis of women” and we should “treat breast disease from the liver”. Our findings support a new role of FGF21 as a mediator upregulated in the NAFLD context that promotes breast cancer development, serving as a promising cancer therapeutic target. More importantly, we discover a distant liver-breast cancer crosstalk, which is not only a new avenue for exploring the breast cancer mechanism but can also strengthen the treatment for breast cancer. That is how we come up with “Developing Etiology and Therapeutics of Developing Breast Cancer”.
