Abstract
The recent advances in pharmacological studies on Amauroderma rugosum

Amauroderma rugosum , which is also called “jiazhi” or “wuzhi” in traditional Chinese medicine, is a basidiomycete in the Gandermataceae family. Its hymenium turns from white to darkish red when scratched. Since this phenomenon looks like bleeding, Amauroderma rugosum is sometimes called “Blood Lingzhi” in Chinese. Unlike other types of Lingzhi, Amauroderma rugosum is rarely studied. Our most updated findings have demonstrated that Amauroderma rugosum possesses anti-oxidative and anti-inflammatory properties. Besides, in vitro and in vivo studies have shown that it may exhibit potential therapeutic implications on aging-related diseases such as cancer, cardiovascular events and neurodegenerative problems. Moreover, it may be useful for inflammatory skin diseases such as eczema. The major active ingredients contributing to these pharmacological effects may include gallic acid, nucleosides and polysaccharides.
