Exploration of the Substitution Applications of Chinese Herbal Medicines and Nutrients for Endangered Wildlife Products

Endangered animal-derived medicinal materials are a crucial part of traditional Chinese medicine. However, as their source animals are under protection, their clinical application and sustainable development face challenges. Studies have found that Chinese herbal medicines and nutritional interventions have the potential for substitution; Chinese herbs can regulate the absorption and metabolism of trace elements; probiotics and Chinese herbs can modulate bile acid metabolism; and Chinese herbs can also regulate amino acid metabolism. These studies provide certain scientific support for the utilization of Chinese herbal medicines and nutrient formulations as substitutes for endangered wildlife products, playing a positive role in protecting wildlife resources and promoting ecological balance.
