Biography

Yong-Xian Cheng is currently the Dean of the School of Pharmacy at Shenzhen University, Head of the Institute for Inheritance-Based Innovation of Chinese Medicine of Shenzhen University, and Director of the Guangdong Provincial Key Laboratory of Chinese Medicine Ingredients and Gut Microbiomics. He was awarded the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars in 2015 and a German Humboldt Research Fellow.Prof Cheng has been consecutively listed among the World's Top 2% Scientists for multiple years (2019, 2024, 2025). He has published over 380 research papers in journals such as Natural Product Reports and Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica B, including 25 papersin Organic Letters. He has filed 130 patent applications, with 79 granted. He is the lead author of the English monograph Novel Plant Natural Product Skeletons (Springer Nature, 2024). His research focuses on biologically active compounds from medicinal animals, plant resins, and Ganoderma mushrooms.
