Global Coalition for Wildlife Protection in Traditional Medicine: Establishment of the Vietnam Chapter and Future Directions for Network Development

This presentation introduces the Global Coalition for Wildlife Protection in Traditional Medicine, an international initiative promoting sustainable, ethical, and wildlife-free practices in traditional medicine. It highlights the establishment of the Vietnam Chapter, including its development process, key partnerships, and initial achievements in awareness-raising, professional engagement, and policy dialogue. The presentation also explores collaborative efforts among practitioners, educators, researchers, and professional associations to reduce reliance on wildlife-derived products and promote plant-based and non-animal alternatives. In addition, it discusses existing challenges in transforming practitioner behavior and strengthening regulatory frameworks. Looking ahead, strategic directions are proposed to expand the national network, enhance capacity building, foster international collaboration, and integrate wildlife conservation principles into education, clinical practice, and research, contributing to sustainable development and biodiversity conservation.
