On behalf of the hosting organizations, it is our great pleasure to extend a warm welcome to you for attending the “iSAMS 2016 (International Acupuncture and Meridian Symposium) - Acupuncture: Health and Wellbeing” held at the University of Hong Kong this year.

Acupuncture has long been used in the mainland China for over two thousand years by means of needles, moxa sticks, moxa cones and special Tui-Na manipulation for stimulating the meridians and acupoints as to maintain good health and cure diseases. The theme of this year’s Symposium, is well in line with the mission statement of iSAMS in terms of exchanging information in each area of alternative medicine, to foster collaboration and to present the way forward for recent research trend. This symposium offers the opportunity for dynamic exchange of information and ideas among renowned scholars as to strengthen the international research network and enhance the quality of oriental medicine research in the long run.

It is our honour for the School of Chinese Medicine, the University of Hong Kong (HKU), together with Korean Pharmacopuncture Institute/Medical Association of Pharmacopuncture Institute, South Korea, to host this Symposium this year in Hong Kong. The School of Chinese Medicine of HKU, being established in early 1998 and currently under the LKS Faculty of Medicine of the University, strives for delivering quality teaching to the students and our clinical service and research are developing progressively. By joining this Symposium, you also have the chance of visiting Hong Kong’s first and foremost tertiary institution which has received worldwide recognition in terms of frontier research and academic endeavours and LKS Faculty of Medicine is one of the best-equipped medical education and research centres in the region.

We hope you would be also to gain much insights from the fruitful discussion with the scholars at this occasion as well as enjoying your stay at “Asia’s world city” where there is a comprehensive integration of the ancient and modern, East and West in terms of arts and culture, science and technology, etc. Thank you.
